Confession: I needed this session.

I am very blessed to have a job that I love. I know that in my heart, but let me be very candid for a moment. I needed this session:

I needed a family photo session with pretty, consistent lighting. I needed a session with fun kids and kind parents who were willing to interact and have silly fun with their kids. I needed a session where I could feel safe shooting outside without a mask so the family could see my expressions and hear my voice without needing to shout. I needed a session where I was not removing the same pimple from a senior’s chin over and over and over in every portrait while editing.

I didn’t even care that it was hot and humid. After being a Lake County photographer for 17 years, I am just happy to finally have leaves back on the trees, not be raining, and not yet be carried away by mosquitos.

To be honest, this was most photographers dream session. To meet new clients who are fun and have realistic expectations is always great, but it felt like the kick-start I needed to jump back into my busy season.

Business still looks different around here than it use to. Homeschooling my kiddos and having a husband who works from home part-time means dedicated work hours are still all shifted around. Answering emails and texts and running a business while simultaneously trying to teach three different grades, move the laundry, and figure out dinner can be hard sometimes. But then I have a session like this and remember the creative outlet my amazing job offers me.

Thank you, Hunter family! I needed this and hope you love your portraits.
