As an Illinois and Wisconsin wedding photographer, I love rustic weddings! I’ll take pine trees and ponds with denim jackets and burlap ribbons over an elegant downtown affair any day. Whispering Woods in Harvard, Illinois did not disappoint. That is not to say I can’t appreciate a formal wedding; Rustic weddings just fit my personality and photography style so well. However, that is not why I chose this wedding to blog about. It is because of COVID. Like everyone else, I am OVER IT!!! But it did bring about one really cool thing for me.

I met Emma as a newborn. I just remember her having the biggest, bluest eyes I’d ever seen. To see her as a high school senior after not seeing her in years is a little surreal. I feel incredibly honored that her family made the trip down from Green Bay for this shoot.

Wedding images from this period in time are sure to be remembered. We couldn’t have asked for a more perfect day for Sarah & Brian’s wedding despite everything COVID forced this couple to alter in regards to their special day. This wedding felt poignant and raw and a true expression of love that was unwilling to wait for an easier time to celebrate. D.J. and I were honored to be a part of it.
