What makes Mia ink unique?
There are a lot of photographers out there. We get that. We believe these 5 things set us apart from the rest.
OUR TEAM
We are a husband-and-wife team. A dynamic duo if you will. See why we feel having a husband and wife team is amazing for weddings below.
LOCATION
We have 10+ acres of private grounds including two ponds, a covered bridge with water wheel, antique trucks, and direct access to a forest preserve.
EXPERIENCE & EDUCATION
I have a bachelor’s degree in Photographic Imaging and Graphic Design and have been shooting since 2004.
LONGEVITY
Not only have we done this a long time, we want to photograph ALL the important moments in your life. I do not want to just be your wedding photographer. I’d love to be there for your wedding, newborn, family, even senior portraits for your kids some day.
FUN
We keep it fun! We pride ourselves on making each event and session as laid-back, natural, and enjoyable as possible.
top 5 reasons to hire a husband AND wife team for your wedding
Mia ink. couples are always guaranteed that Mia and D.J. will be the photographers shooting their big day. While there are a lot of amazing photographers out there, we find that being a husband & wife duo has some big advantages.
teamwork
We are a team and have shot weddings together since day one in 2004. You get two lead photographers for the price of one, as opposed to hiring a second shooter who may or may not have worked with the lead photographer in the past.
synergy
As a married couple, we can often finish each other’s sentences. While every wedding is different, it also has elements that are similar. We know what each other needs and what needs to get done. I never need to ask D.J. if he has photographed the reception details – I know that is where he will be while I finish up with portraits & cocktail hour.
comfort
The groomsmen have significantly more fun hanging out with D.J. (jousting golf carts anyone?) while the bride and bridesmaids would just as soon not have D.J. around while they are getting dressed. We get that! Splitting up for that portion of the day also means no one needs to be ready earlier than necessary.
perspective
Having two of us allows for not only more photos at the end of the day, but also gives more variety in location, perspective, and candid versus posed shots.
details
We simply cannot be in two places at once. Knowing that D.J. has an eye out for grandma & grandpa who are holding hands as they walk away, while I am setting up formal family portraits, is amazing. It means I can focus on what I am doing and let you know if a hair is out of place or you have spinach in your teeth, without feeling like I need to be watching for those other amazing candid moments that are also telling the story of your day.
strength
I won’t officially count this as a top 5 reason, but D.J. is my pack mule. He lugs all of the gear so I can move quickly & freely without missing a shot. That is one area where we don’t work 50/50, and it is awesome for you and me – but maybe mostly me.
